Cambree's Birthday

Our Two Year-oldCambree turned TWO on Halloween!  What a wonderful day we had.  In the morning, I asked Cambree how old she was.  She answered with enthusiasm, "ONE!" and held up one finger.  We then corrected her -- that she's now two years old and should hold up two fingers.  Throughout the day, we would ask Cambree how old she was, and she'd still say "ONE!...no, TWO!".  By the end of the day, I think she got it -- that she really is two years old.

I've uploaded many photos from the events of the day.  Click on the Cambree photo to the left or visit the gallery to see photos.

She carved pumpkins a few nights before, went to the park, went shopping, got dressed up for Halloween, baked a cake, and many other fun things.

For Trick Or Treat, we went to the ward's "Trunk Or Treat".  Participants went to the church parking lot and the children went from car to car for trick or treating instead of house to house.  I thought it was a good idea.  This was Jeffrey're first real trick or treat experience, and seeing so many other kids there dressed up in their costumes really amazed him.  He was acting very shy.  So was Cambree.  Jeffrey was very proud of the candy he collected.

Cowboy JeffreyUnfortunately, we didn't have dinner before we went trunk-or-treating.  I got home from work a little later than planned, and Emily was still getting Jeffrey dressed up like a Cowby and Cambree like a school girl.  So, when we came home from the trunk-or-treat, we were hungry and we didn't want to turn to candy for our evening's nourishment.  However, dinner was difficult to do at that hour because neighborhood children were begging to come to our door for trick or treating.  Jeffrey LOVED it.  After seeing me give out candy to children, he told me that he wanted to do it.  Next time the door bell rang, I watched him run to the door, open it, count how many children were there on the doorstep, and get that many pieces of candy from the bucket by the door, and drop a piece into each one's basket, and close the door.  It was very fun to watch.

We also got visitors -- the neighbors we liked so much that moved away six months ago came by to say hi!  We invited them in and they stayed for about forty-five minuets.  It was great to see Melissa and Britney again.  However, our dinner that we were making was in the microwave at the time that they came and it was beeping at us every few minutes to remind us that there was still food in the microwave (which I found rather humorous).  After they left, it was past 8:00 PM and we sat down to eat an often-interrupted dinner meal.

Birthday Cake!!After dinner, we cleared the table and brought out Cambree's birthday cake.  Emily sure enjoys making them.  This one was a round cake with cupcakes stacked on top, with two candles on top.  It took cambree a few attempts to blow them out, but finally got them blown out.  Click here to see the video. Then we opened gifts.  Cambree received a lot of baby doll stuff.  She loved opening the gifts and was so excited and said "BABY!" when she saw baby things.  She liked the other generous gifts from others too.  We were all tired and the trick-or-treaters slowed down, so we turned off the lights and went to bed.
