Daniel's Eee PC 1000

The first words out of my mouth were, "Oh how cute!"
Emily has been really wanting a new laptop computer for quite some time. I sold some old web servers and put that money into a new laptop computer.... but it's not just any normal laptop. It's an Eee PC 1000 - an ultra-portable mini laptop.
The Eee PC is a full-featured laptop that's very tiny. It has a 10 inch screen. It has a gigabyte of ram, and a 40 gigabtye solid state hard drive. The solid state hard drive is nicer than the old fashioned hard drives with moving parts. It features a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor -- a new, very small CPU that doesn't need a lot of cooling. They advertise up to 7 hours of uninterrupted use on one battery charge. It also has a built in web cam.
I really wanted this laptop because the old laptop was noisy and hot -- like working on a blow dryer. The old laptop took like 2 minutes to boot; this one boots in less than 25 seconds (because of the solid state hard drive). Oh, and it comes with Linux pre-installed -- another plus.
In fact, I'm using it right now to write this blog post.
