Where is Horseshoe Lake Anyway?

So we wanted to go camping. We were going to go with the Perkins family, who camps a lot more than we do. They told us of a great place to go, out of the way, to enjoy a bit more primitive camping. We decided to go to Horseshoe Lake. They've been there camping before, and said it was great and the fishing was supposedly good there too. The day of our planned camping excursion, Jonathan got called in to work for Saturday so they had to back out. Undeterred, we decided that we would go anyway just as our family.

I telephoned Jonathan and got directions to the camp ground because I could not find ANY directions online. So, I hope the map above will help someone wanting to camp at Horseshoe Lake in eastern Idaho. :) We drove and drove on this dirt road and figured that we were lost. It was 8:00 PM and we still had dinner to make as well as set up camp, so we just pulled off the road, found a nice clearing, and made our camp for the night.
I am sorry to say that we forgot our camera. The site was beautiful -- smell of pine trees, no wind, not a cloud in the sky. It was also a full moon that night, and Emily and I were able to enjoy some time together shivering outside after the kids went to bed. In Idaho, I suppose, the nights get down to the 40s. Thank goodness Emily packed our winter coats!
I really enjoyed the camping trip because we were so secluded. We saw no other people there -- just our family. It was so incredibly quiet and peaceful!
The next morning we ate breakfast and took down our camping stuff. Near our camp were some cross-country skiing trails (without snow on them yet) and we went for a hike. It was all fun and games until Emily got stung by a bee or a wasp. It was fun to see lots of butterflies, grasshoppers, and birds.
On our drive home, we passed St. Anthony. I thought it would be fun if we went to the Sand Dunes, so we pulled off the highway and got good directions and a map (this time) to the Sand Dunes. They're incredible -- about 100 feet high! After we got to the entrance (which is a campsite -- an expensive campsite by the way) we parked the car and walked in. There were three college kids from BYU-Idaho there skimboarding on the bank of the pond (they call it a lake). It was fun watching them skim. I told them that I'm from St. George and used to skim board when I was a youngster. One of the guys offered to let me try. I couldn't turn it down. So I took off my socks and shoes and walked in the water in my jeans and long-sleeve shirt. I grabbed the board in my hands, took a deep breath, ans started sprinting. I dropped the board on the water, jumped on, and bump! The board dug into the sand and I biffed it big time. I got soaked. But it was fun. I tried again and got used to their board, and by the end I was teaching them tricks like shove-its and 360s. I guess those three kids started their "sport" recently and had been going to that water hole at the sand dunes every Saturday this summer.
After lunch at the campground there by the sand dunes, we came home!
